Tallulah Evans
Davina Nuttel
Tallulah Evans lives in London. She was an actress best known for being cast as Jess Proudfoot in Son of Rambow, (2007), and she acted alongside Christina Ricci and Reese Witherspoon in Penelope, (2006), and was Jeminima in St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold, (2009).
Oooh we were pleased to find Tallulah. She was great anyway and then it turned out that there was an added bonus to her. She is a really good gymnast. So Tallulah is able to do her own stunts. When she kicks Mr Nockman it is a high and dangerous one that knocks him backwards. It was great to watch her in action.
Tallulah was also very good at being the spoilt Davina, and children watching the film dislike her (until the end of the film). This is exactly what we wanted.
Interview with Tallulah Evans
Q: How did you start acting?
A: When I was younger, I did a weekly acting class after school with my friends. The teacher put me forward to play a small part in a movie called, Penelope, starring Christina Ricci. Luckily I got the role and I loved every minute of it. That’s when I decided that acting was what I wanted to do for my career.
Q: Why do you love acting?
A: I love being on set with the cast and crew. It feels like being part of one big family. Everyone is doing their best and also helping you to do your best too, so that the film can be a success. What a fun job it is to be able to portray different characters all the time. I hate being bored, so the challenge of playing different people on every project is very appealing to me. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.
Q: How did you feel when you got the part in Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism?
A: I first heard that I had the part of Davina while I was at school. I was checking my texts when I saw one from my Mum saying, “You are Davina Nuttall!!!” I couldn’t believe it and I had to stop myself from screaming out loud. I don’t think that would have gone down too well with the teachers!
Q: Were you ever scared or nervous on set?
A: It was very relaxed on the set of Molly Moon. I didn’t really feel too worried, as everyone was so kind and friendly. We worked hard but we had a lot of laughs too. The only time I got a little nervous was when I had a sudden script change the night before filming a scene. I managed to learn it before I went to bed though, and it went well the next day, so I needn’t have worried really.
Q: Do you think you are quite similar to Davina?
A: I like the feisty-ness of Davina. She was a lot of fun to play. I also like how she changes through the story and you see a nicer side of her by the end of the film. I hope the audience can even feel a little tiny bit sorry for her.
Q: If you weren’t acting in the film, what other process would you liked to have been involved with?
A: Another side of filmmaking that I find interesting is costume design. It must be so interesting to do that. I am sure a lot of research goes into it and you would have to really understand the nature of the characters you are dressing; deciding what they would wear, when, and why.
Q: Did you do anything to prepare for the role of Davina?
A: I had to sing when I auditioned for the role of Davina, and also during filming obviously, so I was constantly singing around the house…even more than usual! I think that my family were really patient. Or maybe they were secretly wearing earplugs!
Q: What was your favourite moment or thing that happened whilst filming?
A: My favourite moment in Molly Moon, is when I had the fight with Nockman and did my high kick. I think I am cut out for a few action movies in the future!
Q: Did anything really funny happen to you on set?
A: Omid Djalili was hysterical to work with as you can probably imagine! He had everyone laughing the whole time…off set and on!
